A total of 277 students, representing 40 schools and 92 teachers, participated in the Sixth Annual Go Figure Math Challenge on Saturday, October 30, 2004. The event was co-sponsored by the Department of Energy and Sandia National Labs.
The math challenge was held locally at two locations—the University of the Pacific (UOP) in Stockton and Las Positas Community College in Livermore. Sandia was assisted at UOP by California’s Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) staff.
There were 17 schools and 40 teachers represented at UOP on the day of the challenge, and at Las Positas there were 23 schools and 52 teachers. Parents and teachers will be invited to honor the 47 high-scoring winners at two awards banquets.
