Donna Wu, a junior at Cornell University majoring in electrical engineering and computer science, is a co-op intern in the Instrumentation Systems Engineering department (Org. 8232) at Sandia/CA. She will be performing in the Valley Concert Chorale’s upcoming holiday concert, Carols and Lullabies, on December 3-4, 2005. Donna has been singing ever since elementary school, mostly in school choirs. She was selected to participate in the All-Region Choir in Texas on four occasions. Upon entering Cornell University, Donna auditioned for the Cornell University Chorus, Cornell’s premiere women’s ensemble. The Chorus often joins together with the Cornell University Glee Club (men’s ensemble), to perform at major university events such as commencement and convocation. Cornell’s singing ensembles tour domestically and internationally—traveling to Italy this past year to showcase their talents. As a sophomore, Donna became financial manager of the Chorus and ascended to the position of general manager this past April. She will continue to serve in this capacity when she returns to Cornell in the spring. Donna did not want her semester away from school to hinder her love for choral singing, so she decided to join the Valley Concert Chorale, a 40-member, co-ed group, rehearsing once a week right in the heart of Livermore. The ensemble is conducted by John Bush and accompanied by Daniel Glover, both of whom have a tremendous amount of experience and expertise in music, earning their masters degrees at the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York. The Valley Concert Chorale’s upcoming holiday concert, Carols and Lullabies, will be performed twice in the Bay Area—first on Saturday, Dec. 3rd, at the Mission San Jose in Fremont, and then again on Sunday, Dec. 4th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Livermore. To purchase tickets or learn more about the concert, please visit their website or e-mail Donna directly. |
