One of the major drawbacks of many college internships is the fact that although they provide you with valuable experience, you do not necessarily get paid for all your hard work. All of the college internships available at Sandia are paid positions, so in addition to great hands-on experience, you also get paid for your hard work. Pay for college internships is based on your job classification and number of academic credit hours completed in the term ending prior to your internship. Another benefit that the college internships at Sandia provide is consistent hours. Those who participate in college internships work a 40-hour week. If, however, you work with a mentor who participates in Sandias 9/80 flexible scheduling, you may opt for that schedule, with your mentors permission. In that case, you will work four 9-hour days, Monday through Thursday each week. One Friday you will work 8 hours and the next Friday you will have off!
